THAT GROUP SHOT OF D.S., THO.

“Sparklebraids” as an epithet has to do with the Lieutenant rank on the soldier’s uniform. Interestingly, someone in my life pointed out that the guy looked like a cop (they called him a “police man”).

Yu-chan isn’t using tech to “lock on.” She’s just “that good.” I’m noticing a bit of techno…assumption-ism (I’m trying not to dive directly into an assumption of techno-fetishism on their part)? in some readers. They’ll mention laser rifles like in Star Wars/Trek, while neglecting that the cats mostly use their claws, fists, and other melee implements to fight, except Yu-chan, who uses a bow. My thinking behind this is that, in a field setting, once such weapons run out of power, they become worth about as much as a blunt melee weapon (think AK-47 or M-16/M-4 rifle butts and/or bayonets), and even their reliability at that is dependent on their durability compared to – what would be considered in 2318 – antique weapons. Something to keep in mind is that in comic 003, Vi brought up a war that ended 242 years prior (2076) that involved several near extinction events for humanity. That’s only a half-century away, and the closest thing we have to Star Wars/Trek laser/blaster rifles (to my knowledge) is a directional radiation diffuser that causes cancer in those exposed to it. So…….

….yeah. This is a topic that I’ve considered heavily.

Between ‘Rissa and Yu-chan hugging in the previous comic and that group shot in this one, I’m proud of these comics.
